Am i right in thinking this is a way to maximise product sales revenue globally where NAV might be sold at £39.99 RRP in the UK and #4.99 in Whateveristan?

Not so nice for consumers in general. Bit like turning the clock back really to time before internet........Norton put Borders back up.

that is for sure probably one of the reasons. imo the main reason they do this is so people cant buy the crazy cheap lic's from places like china and sell a lic on ebay for under 10$ and its used in the usa. this has been happening for years with nortons and many others. if you remember when norton first came about it sold for around 130$ per copy back in the day....

It's not that bad as long as you install a key that matches the same product language.

Much worse is Kaspersky's way with their regional-coded license keys system :D

Wow, don't remember that. I think the oldest copy I ever bought was for Windows 95 back in 1996. I think it was something like $69.99. Definitely not more. Are we talking older than that? I know it goes back farther.

This is really nothing compared to Kaspersky's regional restrictions. Just need to download the product with the appropriate language.
