Can ATI 11 files be used to run on VmWare? I have used ShadowProtect files to run a clone of my system on VmWare. I tried to with ATI 11, but was unable. Now i believe maybe i was just doing something wrong.

    Hello Cutting_Edgetech,

Thank you for using Acronis True Image

You are unable to clone or restore the archive to VMWare machine by means of Acronis True image 11 Home because of dissimilar hardware. You can use Acronis True Image Echo Workstation with Acronis Universal Restore

Acronis True Image Echo Workstation has a feature such as Acronis Universal Restore. Acronis Universal Restore provides an efficient solution for restoration of a hardware-independent system by replacing the crucial HAL and hard disk controller drivers. In the case of motherboard and CPU change the replacement of the crucial HAL is necessary. Acronis Universal Restore is an optional program feature.

Please see the article Transferring Windows to Dissimilar Hardware for more information.

Also, Acronis True Image Echo Workstation has the ability to convert a disk image, created with the program (.tib), to a virtual disk file of the type you select (.vmdk, .pvs, and .vhd). You will then be able to add the disk to a virtual machine of compatible type: VMware, Microsoft virtual machine (MS Virtual PC, MS Virtual Server, MS Hyper-V), Parallels virtual machine and Citrix XenServer, respectively.

The Acronis Universal Restore technology is applied in background because the program is aware which drivers
are needed for compatible virtual machines.

I may recommend you to install a trial version in order to make sure that the program runs flawless for you.

Acronis True Image 11 Home can be upgraded to Acronis True Image Echo Workstation. If you would like to purchase the upgrade to Acronis True Image Echo Workstation, please visit Acronis online store

    Thank you.

    I am using VMware Workstation.
Does this require both Acronis True Image Echo Workstation and Acronis Universal Restore to create a guest O/S for VMware? or can Acronis True Image Echo Workstation do it alone with VMware workstation?

Echo Workstation can convert images for use with VMware without needing UR. I've done it before with VMware and Virtual PC.

    From the manual:
