    Hi !

    MB : Intel DP35DP
    DVD : Plextor PX810-SA (Sata)
    HD : 4 x Sata HD (2 in raid)

    If I try to boot on a Dvd rescue media, I have this message :

    "acronis loader fatal error boot drive (partition) not found"

    If in the bios I set Sata as "IDE" instead of AHCI or RAID, I can boot from the dvd.

    What is the bug ?

    Hi

    No solution I'm afraid, but I have the same problem. There are 2 controllers on my Gigabyte GA-X38-DS5 M/B, an Intel ICH9R and a Gigabyte. If I attach all devices to the Intel controller (my preference with 2xHDDs in RAID 0, a standalone HDD and one SATA DVD-ROM) the machine won't boot from the Recovery Media. If I attach the DVD drive and the standalone HDD to the Gigabyte controller, the machine will boot from Recovery CD but ATI 11 cannot see any HDDs.

    Does Acronis have a solution please?

    Have you updated your volsnap driver?

    Go to device driver
    Click on show hidden devices
    click to expand storage volumes
    You should have two at least. Click on the first one and update driver.
    For some reason Windows update does not update this driver
    Let me know if this works.

    Hi

    I may be misunderstanding you!

    Tried updating the driver allowing Internet search for a better driver. The wizard completed saying I already have the best driver for my hardware.

    Should I be manually downloading a more recent driver from somewhere?

    Thanks

    Hello Stéphane Péneau and pieronip,

    Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

    Please make sure you use the latest build (8053) of Acronis True Image 11 Home. To get access to updates you should first register your software. Don't forget to recreate Acronis Bootable Rescue Media after updating.

    If updating doesn't solve the problem, please make sure your motherboard's BIOS is the latest version.

    If the issue persists, please do the following:

    For Windows XP:
    Please boot up from the Windows Bootable CD, then go to the Recovery Console (the first Repair option you come to).
    From the command prompt please type:

    FIXMBR C:
    FIXBOOT C:
    BOOTCFG /rebuild

    After that, please reboot your computer.

    For Windows Vista:
    Please repair Vista Boot Configuration Data in the following way:
    1. Put the Windows Vista installation disc in the CD\DVD disc drive, and then (re)start the computer;
    2. Press a key when you are prompted;
    3. Select language, time, currency, keyboard or input method, and then click Next;
    4. Click Repair your computer;
    5. Click the operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next;
    6. In the System Recovery Options dialog box click Command Prompt;
    7. Type the following:
    Bootrec.exe /FixMbr
    Bootrec.exe /FixBoot
    Bootrec.exe /RebuildBcd
    This command scans all disks for installations that are compatible with Windows Vista. Additionally, this option lets you select the installations that you want to add to the Boot Configuration Data store.

    If you have any further questions concerning Acronis software, please feel free to submit a request for technical support or post any of them on this forum. We will certainly try to help you in resolving any issues.

    Thank you.

    I have exactly the same problem as pieronip with a Gigabyte GA-X38-DQ6.
    Swapping controllers gave the exact results as it did with him. I am looking at about 50 hours down the drain if there is no solution. There must be some weird incompatibility between ATI and these boards. I wish I knew that 50 hours ago, I would have used Ghost. My version of ATI is the latest and so is my bios. You simply can't use ATI rescue disk with this board. I have always used ATI and always loved it until now. Anybody have any ideas? Is there another program that can read ATI image files and restore them?:

    Hi

    Fixing of MBR etc as above has had no effect for me.

    I now use the Mustang plug-in and BartPE

    http://www.mechrest.com/plugins/index.html

    The is great and for a couple of dollars great value too.

    Hope it helps

    If think you didn't understand my problem :

    I can't boot from the dvd.... yes, from the Dvd. My windows is running perfectly.
    The strange thing is even though I can't boot from the dvd, it works if i create a TI bootable usb flash disk.

    The Bart PE/Mustang plug in worked like a charm. I can't imagine how you found the plug in, but I'm glad you did. You saved my a**. Acronis has some work to do. I challenge them to put a rescue disk in a similar Gigabyte machine with a raid array and get it to work. It will not! Again thanks for the tip.

    I have the same problem with a system containing:
    GigaByte GA-P35_ds3l MoBo
    Samsung S203B SATA DVD Drive
    Acronis TI 10.0 build 4942

    I loaded Vista on a clean drive with the BIOS option for AHCI enabled. I also loaded a few other programs such as Norton.

    I then created an archive file on my USB drive using TI.

    When I tried to boot from the recovery disc, I got the above message.

    I disabled AHCI and tried again. This time I booted TI, but it didn't recognize the hard drive.

    I also tried with a new hard drive with the same results.

    Finally, I created a bootable TI version on a memory stick and it booted properly, but didn't recognize the hard drive.

    It seems that TI 10.0 doesn't support SATA hard drives running with AHCI enabled. Does version 11.0 support it? How about Ghost?

    same problem here, latest build of TI 11 together with a Gigabyte P35-DS4. Booting from an USB stick works fine, booting from a recovery CD results in the error mentioned above.

    Before the latest build, TI wasnt even recognizing HDDs or "Computers near me" when booted by rescue media - and it still has troubles recognizing RAID sets.

    Any fix or workaround?

    heres a screenshot, Acronis was booted by usb stick (Boot-CD is NOT working, as I'm receiving the error mentioned above), Recovery dialog: I've got 4 HDs (2x Samsung 500 GB, 2x Hitachi 100GB) in 2x RAID1 sets. Only the Samsung-RAID1 seems to get detected, still cant figure out what the "no raid sets"-message is about:

    Hello all,

    Regarding the original issue with booting from Acronis Bootable CD/DVD (when the controller the optical drive is attached to is switched to AHCI or RAID mode): In case you experience such an issue please submit a request for technical support. Provide the description of the issue, the link to this thread and request an ISO image of the latest version for Acronis Boot Media based on an alternative ISOLinux loader which should fix the issue.

    Please feel free to contact us again any time should you have any further questions.

    Thank you.

    Best Regards,

    this is not working.

    "Serial Number is valid but we can't register it right now. Please contact support immediately."

    meanwhile, I'm quite sick of True Image.

    Acronis True Image v10.0.4942 has exactly the same problems with an Gigabyte P35-DS4 as v11:

    - Boot-CD is not working (USB Stick works fine)
    - RAID sets arent recognized properly

    seems to have major difficulties with the ICH9 SATA Controller

    in addition, the latest build of TI v11 (Build #8064, 2007-12-13) is NOT fixing this. Problem persists after the upgrade, in spite of mentioning some RAID enhancements in its release notes...

    Hello all.

    Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup software

    SHSH, regarding the first issue with the serial number registration, you should contact our Support Team and provide them with the serial number and your purchase information.

    Regarding the issue with RAID controller and Acronis Bootable Rescue Media - could you please create Linux system information (sysinfo.txt) as it is described in Acronis Help Post with the Acronis Bootable Rescue Media created with the latest build and then submit a request for technical support. Attach all the collected files and information to your request along with the link to this thread.

    Thank you

    Acronis Support

    I have tried the latest ISO image supplied by you (8053) and as I have advised by email, the machine reboots when any function (backup, restore, validate) is invoked.

    Posting this for the information for the benefit of others with this problem.

    The BART version I currently use will keep me going until the issue is solved.

    Thanks.

    I am using a P5AD2-E Premium with a Silicon Image 3114R RAID controller
    and a Intel ICH6R (yes, oldfashioned).. 4x RAID,0.

    Good old v.8 had no problems with the above. I cud select drives, partitions and folders. I cud backup drive c into G:\TrueImage-files\ no problem.
    With v.11 TI only sees 1 SATA RAID and one IDE-RAID - no partitions and no option to selectively backup a drive.

    Regretfully only now I discovered that RAID tends to be an issue with v.11 and there is a kind of default reply from Acronis "... bla bla lease create Acronis Report and Linux system information (sysinfo26.txt) as it is described in Acronis Help Post..."

    I shortly looked at the help file you are referring to. With all due respect, apart from the experts and fanatic users in this forum, the ones who are familiar with Linux and stuff, do you honestly think it is fair to ask endusers to go thru all the steps described there, if at all they know what they are doing...?

    Am really sorry to say, but assuming that the RAID issue will not be solved soon, I will request for a refund and wait for a few rounds op updates before buying...

    I can confirm the problem that mrwul has experienced with the ICH9 SATA controller.
    I just built a new PC with a Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R motherboard and have the ACHI option enabled in the BIOS.
    The bootable rescue CD also gives me the "Acronis Loader Fatal Error: boot drive (partition) not found" message.
    Looks like I'll have to go for Norton Ghost instead.

    My P5AD2-E Premium i925XE has ICH6R only. Version 11 can't figure out the drives and partitions. Good old v8 can, though that version is messing up the drivelettters. But that aside, after you have discovered G: under Windows is D: under TI, there is no problem... ;)
