When I was having a problem, an Acronis Chat Support person sent me a file that was supposed to take my present level of 9646 to 9709. When I displayed my present level today, I found it never went to 9709. I started another chat session about this problem. This time I was told to delete my present level via Windows add/delete and install the latest version they sent me in File TrueImage2009.9788_s_en.exe, with a file size of 93,269KB. When I questioned why I had to delete my present level of Acronis before installing this "Update", they said it was because the last update they sent me to take it to 9709 did not work. I asked several times if the file they sent was a full install, and not just an update. I was told it was a "Full Update", and it was all I needed to get to the latest level. When I asked about the serial number of my present program, I was told I would have to enter it when I installed the update. I know I will lose all my Log information about my current backups when I delete the current program. Is there any reason why I should not do what they recommend (Delete & Install)? They said my present backups out on my external drive would still be good to restore with the new level. Does that sound OK? For some reason, I just did not feel comfortable with chatting with this person at the other end. This new level is not shown on the Acronis web site. What do you think of this recommended action plan?
Has anyone gone to build 9788? Have I been led astray?

It's usually best to uninstall the previous version/build before installing the update, though some people haven't had problems installing over an existing version/build.

Build 9,788 was pulled by Acronis just after its release because of problems (mostly because it wouldn't accept serial numbers correctly). Personally, at this point, I think 9,709 is the better build.

I am sticking with ATI2009 build 9709 for the time being.

So my advice would be stick with 9709 and not go to 9788 as there is expected to be yet another new build out in the next few weeks which will sort out the serial number issue.

Build 9788 I think is the 5th English language build of ATI 2009 that has released to us paying customers. I am finding it a real bind having to retest the software which they should be testing.

So for the moment I can work round the bugs in build 9709.
