I recently bought a boxed Acronis True Image. I have already used it to make an image to an external hard drive.

I'm not able to create a boot CD. I get an error message each time.

I have a 2 year old Sony Vaio desktop and in addition to the built in burning software, I have Nero.

I'm not new to this type of software as I also have Ghost 2003 and Power Quest Drive Image. I can't imagine why this doesn't work.

    Thanks,
    Helen

    Thank you very much.

    I'll give that a try.

I thought you were a fan of Power Quest Drive Image? Anyway, that boxed version is probably outdated. In fact I'm sure it is since three new builds came out within the last three days. What version and build is it?

If what has been suggested does not work, update to the latest. The latest build of version 9 also has the feature of Imaging directly to DVD media.

I just bought the Acronis 3 weeks ago. The installation disk says it's v.9 and it says bootable CD on it. Am I to assume that it is bootable? I guess I could try it and see for myself.

    I'll also check for upgrades.

    Thank you for responding.

I upgraded Acronis v.9 to build 3633 then tried the mentioned strategy to create a bootable CD by going into Safe Mode, etc.

    Still no luck.

Time to give up for the night. :'(
