I don't know where to put this so I hope it's ok.

ATT(Bellsouth) are cramming their security package down my throat. I don't want it but being ATT they won't listen to their customers. The people you talk can't half speak English so no wonder there is bad communication.
Question - how is it going to effect my SS?
What do I do with this mess from them?

exactly how are they ramming it down your throat? are they your ISP? If that is the case just tell them to put in the damn connection and leave the rest to you. You don't need any ISPs software to get on today's Internet. It is just a matter of configuring the router properly. Is this on your PC or theirs? If it is theirs then they can put on it whatever they would like. If it is not, then it is your chioce. It is never a good idea to run two security suites... they will no doubt conflict with each other.

    Thanks for responding.
Just wondering if anyone else is faced with this kind of tactic.
I asked for the security service to be cancelled in 7-2008.
Now their doing the same thing again. Left hand doesn't
seem to know what right hand is doing. Yes they are my
ISP and they want $5 a month (forever) for this unrequested
privalege. I have Eset SS and am very pleased with it. I
will not put two security suites on my Puter. I have to
download their program so I have got them there but
they could still charge me $5 a month forever. It's my
PC so I have total control.

    Hello,

I am not sure how ESET can help you; this sounds more like an issue to take up with AT&T's billing department.

    Regards,

My wife is a Comm industry retiree and I know there is pressure to log sales $$; some reps added services not requested to accounts just to make their quotas; Ask to speak to a supervisor and threaten to write a "letter to the Public Service Commission for harassment". If you accept this fee-service it is Your fault.

P.S. Older DSL accounts started at Price $A now sell at (Lower) Price $B as Faster Speeds evolved, but they won't tell you the price has been reduced. Check your billing against today's DSL prices.

    To Aryeh,
I don't expect Eset to do anything but in a way it
effects Eset's business if people are taken in by this nonsense from ATT. I want to see Eset succeed with their fine SS package.

    To, Cosmos,
This is my 2nd time I've had conversations with
ATT and they keep coming back with the idiot message saying that a $5 charge will be added to my bill for their Security Service. We had trouble with ATT a long time ago and dropped their service because they couldn't get our billing straightened out and were charging us for a bill that was already paid. They still seem to have the same problem or unethical practices.
In the meantime they have lowered our excessive
charge for DSL and can't give us a reason why.
Not that I'm complaining, but the fastest DSL
IMHO should be no more than $9 per month.
