For those of you thinking of changing AV programs in the near future, Dr Web Ltd have improved their offer of switching to their AV.

Now users can exchange not only their present valid licenses but also those which have expired 60 days ago.

Discounts of 50% are available, for an already cheap AV.

Further details are here and here.

I found this part of the article very interesting:

"Marx noted that corporations are extremely intolerant of false-positives, so Symantec, McAfee and other vendors widely used in corporate environments tend to have a more complex quality-assurance process to weed out false positives; this often results in the companies taking longer to get virus definitions in place. On the other hand, smaller anti-virus companies, he said, tend to have more problems with false positives."

I think that it's obvious. Like that signatures are more accurate than heuristics too! :)

    Best regards,

    Yes, this page says:
"Wish to migrate for 1-year Dr.Web license?
50% migration discount and another 50% discount for renewing the license with Dr.Web next year!"...
Dials sent me a email with this link but I don't see the 1 year licence option...

    Hi Mack,

I have taken a look over at the main Web site and I cannot find a link to a 1 Year/single computer migration license :p :(

I noticed that TechnoDrome posted only about a 2 year-license and this is the only one that I can see at present.

For now, just download the full version for 20 days and hopefully this 1 year only migration license can be sorted out.

    I will contact their support/sales ;)

Very quick reply from support and they will place a 1-year link up as soon as possible :D

And the official support process has changed for the better with a Ticket number/Action/Status and the name of the person dealing with your problem. Now we are nearly on par with the Russian users!!!!

Some really good signs coming from DrWEB in the customer support area. I have also been getting very quick responses to my email queries. Add in the visits from Serge Popov to Wilders dealing with the Process Guard issue and I am feeling even more bullish about this AV...:)

    Just heard back from support.

Now those who wish to migrate to only a 1-year license for Dr.Web, will receive not a discount coupon but a link, where they can pay for the migration.

But you still use the original link http://buy.drweb.com/togreen to start the migration.

    Mack

Keep us posted if you decide to take up the 1-year Migration license. I am interested that the procedure in place actually works.

AntiVir Premium gives very good protection, per AV-Comparatives & VBulletin. Plus it is updated & improved aggressively. Unless you are an extremely high risk surfer, it should do just fine for you.

However, if you have some money to spare, it might make good sense to grab hold of DrWeb's superb offer, & relegate AntiVir to back-up/second-opinion status.

    Licence bought !
    Very easy to do.
Dials send you a licence number, you enter it on the register page and then, you can download your licence key.
    ;)
