Once again a new av-test. Apparently again they were tested only with 12000 garbage files and non-infecteble samples!

Because the site was an Italian one, here is one poor translation by Google Translator to English.

Btw, there are even more tests in there dated on 2005-07, test of scan speed, start up speed etc.

WHat about if I make one test with garbage files and than sell banners on my site?

Mike NOD would be on last place so all NOD funs here will come to see that and that way I can get more visitors :)

Is it a wise decision, when I stick to the av-comparatives AGAIN after reading these tests ?

Don't bother, ESET made again it's last move by adding about 6 weeks worth common updates to NOD32 JUST BEFORE the upcoming Av-Comparatives 02-2006 av-test in here, NOD32 - v.1.1389 (20060131).

PS. Maybe it's better to test all these av:s with 30:th Jan. 2006 signatures! :D

    Best regards,
    Firefighter!

   What a waste of time, work and money? Especially, when we look at the update with NOD32 - v.1.1185 (20050801) too JUST BEFORE the Av-Comparatives av-test 08-2005 and the similar one JUST BEFORE the Av-Comparatives av-test 02-2005 etc. etc. ;) All this job because of a couple of tens tested samples, why not to add them continuously all the time in small pieces? ;)

    Best regards,
    Firefighter!

pfff, the updates of nod32 look relativly small compared to some other av's. you will see in the report in one month...
@FF: i think it was already explained to you in past here in the forum why some av companies prefers big updates in such cases - do not bother everytime with the same things ;)

When antivirus programs especially prepare and "optimize" for tests, do the results still represent and indicate the level of "real world" protection?

We in Italy already talked about this comparative and marked it as "bullshit" ;)

Who has done this comparative used 12000 samples :)wacko:), we don't know how they choosed their samples neither if there are FPs. The only thing we know, as written in the webpage, is that they used every thing of trash - from worm to joke - in fact every thing of trash sw that a lot of antivirus software don't detect (see for example Nod32 that doesn't detect jokes).

Well, at the end, I have to quote Happy Bytes :D

    Best regards,

    Marco

The next AV-comparatives test will only be released on March 1, 2006. It would be too early for Eset to release such a big update that is purported to be "optimized" for a test. Therefore we can deduce that the recent big updates had nothing to do with AV-comparative's testing.

Oh, by the way, I still stick by the results of AV-comparatives. :)

Right, but FF loves to sling the same old stuff, over and over, because some will stick. And he knows it. :cautious:

I think that you already know the answer!

In my mind all av-tests have to be done as any day protection in the main focus.

    Best regards,
    Firefighter!
