    Hello,

I was wondering how many Windows 7 users were disappointed that the Vista Sidebar has been completely removed from the new version? I found a gadget entitled 7 Sidebar that emulates the Vista sidebar. It's a gadget, and is easy to download and install. Some folks take the brute force method and install the Vista sidebar in 7, but it's not easy and doesn't always work right. Here are the links for the 7 Sidebar gadget:

I've attached a screenshot of how the 7 Sidebar looks with several gadgets installed on it. Also, the desktop contains several Yahoo! Widgets. You can visit this link for the names and locations of the gadgets and widgets:

    Enjoy!

Nope only used it a few times then disabled it. It felt like a waste of pc resources IMO.

I never knew it was removed, I still have the sidebar on Win7.
I've used it every since I installed Win7 and love it.

I have plenty of resource usage because it doesn't drag down my system.

    Thanks.:D

You can still put gadgets on the screen on Win 7 in a similar fashion to the Vista sidebar, but it doesn't eat RAM like there's no tomorrow, unlike the Vista sidebar.

Do I miss the Vista sidebar?

    No.

I don,t understand it. There is a builtin side bar in windows 7 then why to install a 3rd part side bar.

I chose other because Win 7 has the Gadgets Bar, it's the same as Sidebar ;) so there's nothing to miss!

I'm very happy with Vista Ultimate, but one of the first things I disabled when I first got it was Windows Sidebar mainly because I like a clean desktop background.

Im glad they removed it. I dont use desktop gadgets anyway and it took up quite a bit of desktop space.

I consider a sidebar to be a total misuse or even an abuse of the desktop. Voted No

That sidebar can use more RAM/CPU than Windows itself (~350 MB), so that is the first thing, I allways disable, especially when people complain about sluggish PC. :)

No, the degree of freedom on Windows 7 is much better. They just need to improve resource consumption, even though I have 8 light gadgets that uses ~1% idle and 18% every 5 seconds checking CPU, Memory, and I/O top 2 processes, plus GPU consumption.
