Hi,
The only two people who I know are using SL6 here in this sub-forum of Wilders are Ocky and Mack_Guy. Hopefully there are others. Anyways, I need some suggestions of a dock (like cairo-dock that I use in Ubuntu) for SL6. Presently I only have a very large Desktop icon for Firefox 6 (fc12 remi). Any help will be appreciated. On a side note, I finally found a real easy way to save updates and then use them to do installs or re-installs. If anyone is interested then let me know and I'll post how to do it. It's not as easy as AptOnCD but it's not bad. Later... Bob

Thanks, Mack_Guy, for the reply. Actually, the AWN version that Ocky linked to is working for me. I would prefer a few more options than what is available but hey it's better than what I had. Maybe we can find a newer version somewhere. Think I start looking.
Thanks again. .Later...

Hello Trespasser, Right, let us know when you find something. I have tried to no avail The awn applets package (from the same source) is a nightmare i.e. won't work as far as I can see. PS. saw in an earlier post that you have found a special method to save downloaded packages. Please tell all. ![]()

Here are the links to AWN 0.4.0-1, and its dependencies, that I found and they work in SL6 32bit. I've included 64bit versions as well....
ftp://ftp.pbone.net/mirror/archive.f...c12.x86_64.rpm ftp://ftp.pbone.net/mirror/archive.f....fc12.i686.rpm ftp://ftp.pbone.net/mirror/archive.f...c12.x86_64.rpm ftp://ftp.pbone.net/mirror/archive.f....fc12.i686.rpm ftp://ftp.pbone.net/mirror/archive.f...c12.x86_64.rpm ftp://ftp.pbone.net/mirror/archive.f....fc12.i686.rpm ftp://ftp.pbone.net/mirror/archive.f...c12.x86_64.rpm ftp://ftp.pbone.net/mirror/archive.f....fc12.i686.rpm Install libdesktop-agnostic, libdesktop-agnostic-bin, and python-desktop-agnostic first. Then install avant-window-navigator-0.4.0-1. The installer will want to install 3 other dependencies from sl6 repos when you try to install avant-window-navigator-0.4.0-1. A few more options to choose from compared to 0.3.2. Later...

Yes, many thanks Trespasser ! Can confirm works great.
I am a bit apprehensive regarding the awn extras applets. For instance, to name one dependency:- gnome-python2-gtkmozembed-2.25.3-22.fc12.x86_64 requires gecko-libs = 1.9.1.15 That looks like an old xulrunner version. Anyway, quite happy as is.

I have another question. What menu are you using in SL6 besides the standard Main Menu or Menu Bar? I found and got working mintmenu (fc12) but would prefer to use something else.
BTW, if you would like to install firefox 6 for el6 then you can pick it up here if you wish... http://repos.fedorapeople.org/repos/leigh123linux/ leigh123 posts over at Scientific Linux Forum I've noticed. Later...

Nice, Mack_Guy! I SO much prefer cairo-dock over AWN. With this addition my SL6.1 will be almost on par with my Lucid installs.
Great find, dude. Thanks. Later...

Hello,
Here are the links to cairo-dock 2.1.3.9-3 (32 and 64 bit versions) that I found... cairo-dock... http://mirror02.ipgn.com.au/fedora/r....fc12.i686.rpm http://mirror02.ipgn.com.au/fedora/r...c12.x86_64.rpm cairo-dock-core... http://mirror02.ipgn.com.au/fedora/r....fc12.i686.rpm http://mirror02.ipgn.com.au/fedora/r...c12.x86_64.rpm cairo-dock-plug-ins... http://mirror02.ipgn.com.au/fedora/r....fc12.i686.rpm http://mirror02.ipgn.com.au/fedora/r...c12.x86_64.rpm libetpan... ftp://ftp.pbone.net/mirror/archive.f....fc12.i686.rpm ftp://ftp.pbone.net/mirror/archive.f...c12.x86_64.rpm I uninstalled the older versions before I installed the newer versions. I forgot the order in which I installed them so I guess you'll have to do some experimenting. Enjoy. Later...
