further question, in the unlikely event this cannot be fixed, is it possible to uninstall spyware blaster without disabling the protection seeing as I cannot currently get the program to load so as to actually disable said protection?

    spybot sd(antispyware) avast(antivirus).

just disabled avast and tried running the program. no dice.
disabled spybot's active component, tea timer, same result.
    disabled spybot's passive immunization. nada.

I even disabled windows' built in firewall. same result.

this is when I try to open the program, as in its already installed...
first time I've ever had this program that has served me reliably since 2007 give me any kind of grief...

What version of Windows are you running?
Do you have the latest Windows Service Pack installed?

(We've heard one report from a user with Windows Vista that encountered this error. The error disappeared when they installed Service Pack 2 for Vista.)

    Best regards and thanks,
