@ NickHSunbelt

Does it mean that from now onwards we are not going to have VIPRE Series? Or still you'll be developing VIPRE AV or other Sunbelt Products under your flagship? How about licenses? Will they gonna affected by this merger?

It sounds like the consumer division will be spun off and still continue marketing Vipre. My guess is that one of the big boys in consumer AV will buy Vipres technology.

Thats unfortunate. The only decent software I can think of that GFI has is their Backup Home edition.

Also unfortunate is that they will be merging it into new products yet most of GFI's experience is in email spam filtering and archiving.

Quote:
The acquisition will allow GFI to merge VIPRE technology into GFI’s email security and web security solutions group, and will provide GFI with new security products consisting of world-class and innovative technology.

Nothing is changing with VIPRE at the moment and we have no reason to believe it will. We'll likely see VIPRE Enterprise integrated with some of GFI's other products but nothing will be changing with VIPRE itself. We are still developing and actually have far more resources to do so now.

Good to here Nick! And all the best for the future!

Cheers,

It does not seem like much will change after reading the report. I want to wish everyone good luck on the merger

Does this mean they might finally get tested by av-comparatives or av-test.org? Let's hope so.

It seems that VIPRE enterprise is their main product.

The home version hasn't performed that well... They didn't participate in av-comparatives, if memory serves correctly.

Perhaps they will keep their home version for marketing purposes.

Counterspy used to be good. But my first experience with VIPRE was disappointing.

Cool Re: Sunbelt Software aquired by GFI

Good Evening ! I've been with the folks at Sunbelt with Counterspy...and Vipre...and Vipre Premium Beta...and now the latest Edition of Vipre Premium. Admittedly Vipre and it's Firewall is still a work in progress...but with the merger the synergy of Individuals...Resources...and Innovation...looks extremely promising for future endeavours. Alex Eckleberry has sent out a e-mail communique to all Vipre and Counterspy customers informing them of the merger. I have nothing but Praise for the men and women at Sunbelt...and their products and customer focused sales and service. I wish them the best in everything they attempt now and in the future. Sincerest Congratulations...Securon

VIPRE has been a work in progress for a couple of years ...
