Prevx with Safe Online and Sandboxie compatibility

Hello!
I`m user of Prevx v.3.0.5.50 (Safe Online enabled) and Sandboxie (v.3.42). Whats the point? My browser (Opera 10.1) is forced to always open in sandbox. When I want Prevx with SafeOnline to work properly (prevx icon in Opera), i must do some actions, that cause my Sandboxie is much less secure (I must enable the checkbox in the Accessibility settings). I have spoken with Tzuk and he said: "At this time it is the only way I could see. So far I have not tried to interest the Prevx people in finding a better solution, but they might be interested. Maybe you should talk to them".
So I ask: is there a better solution (or possibility) to force co-op between Prevx SafeOnline module and Sandboxie?

I am in the same situation, but to me the two products are conceptually incompatible. Your best approach (in my opinion) is to use one browser for your general browsing, which is protected by Sandboxie and use another for secure https sessions, which is either not protected by Sandboxie or uses the Accessibility Settings workaround.

I use Opera for the former and IE8 for the latter. Works well for me and does not represent any inconvenience. This approach also has the advantage of segregating your Opera and IE8 browsers, such that if malware infests the Opera Sandbox it cannot bleed over to your IE8 browser. If you use the same browser for both types of browsing you are placing your secure https sessions at risk.

So, in a strange way the incompatibility between SBIE and Prevx forces you to use a more secure method of browsing

Yes, that could be the best solution, but when I think about power of Sandboxie and Prevx working together...overkill combo

But not every product is going to work together and that will happen with certain software and in this case there is a small work around but not 100% compatible! Maybe contact the makers of Sandboxie to see if they can do anything to make it more compatible with SafeOnline?

Like I said I spoke to Tzuk, and he said that the only thing I could do is ask prevx support (dunno...maybe this is out of his skills?)...so I asked. Fact that not every software could live in peace with other one, is well known to me. Never mind. I just wondering if there is another solution to force full (in this context= without any renouncement, sacrifice, etc.)coop behavior between PrevX and Sandboxie.

I agree - while it will require some modifications to get a workaround in place, we are definitely interested in making these changes, however, at the moment, we have other changes higher on our priority list but don't think that SafeOnline will never be compatible with Sandboxie Our goal is to be compatible with every program and we aren't going down without a fight

I don`t doubt you are omnipotent , but Im not sure how about Tzuk skills (of course only in this case )

"Unfortunately I was unable to find a way to make a "narrow" hole through the Sandboxie just for Prevx. The component inside the browser (the blue button) needs to communicate with the prevx.exe program outside the sandbox. But the communication is done in ways that are not compatible with how Sandboxie exclusions work.

I've found that it is possible to make Prevx work in the sandbox by enabling the (only) checkbox in the Sandbox Settings > Accessibility page."

Yes, maybe lower but in the same time strengthen by the safeonline...Question: a loss or gain ?

We have not been working on improving compatibility with Sandboxie yet but it is on the list to be looked at still

I looked at it but then saw that Sandboxie says this will lower it's security.

I've got Windows 7 Pro x64 and if I check that box in Sandboxie I can't open pdf files from my web pages.
Which really sucks.
So it isn't checked.

If you do add sandbox capability to Prevx, can you make it possible to put sandboxed data in user configurable drive/folder and/or in non-pageable RAM.

I currently have Sandboxie setup to use a RAM Disk as the sandbox folder, so absolutely no traces of the sandbox are left on the hard disk, and would like this same capability in the Prevx sandbox (although it would also be nice to be able to tick an option in PRevx to just use RAM and, if possible, automatically expanding RAM)

What a bummer! I thought I had figured out the security setup for my netbook but it looks like I have more thinking to do.

My plan included Prevx SafeOnline, Sandboxie which I use for every browser, Avast Free, and PCTools Firewall Plus....and I probably would have thrown in Keyscrambler and I always use Roboform or Keepass for my passwords.

I expect that Prevx was overkill but I like the idea of that one extra layer of protection.

I'll probably just leave it as is.
