Does Avira still have a support forum? I just did a google search for it, and it is not showing up in the results that I can see.
I was an old member of Avira Forum which closed a year ago = and replaced with the (useless, imo) Avira Answers
I was a member of the old forum also. I was going to make some suggestions, and discovered the forum was gone. Thanks for the confirmation!
Yes, now I remember you, "avon" here. https://avira.ideascale.com/ https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/avira.345492/page-154#post-2537213
Why has Avira not been participating in the Heuristics, and Behavior test at AV-Comparatives? Does Avira have good Heuristics, or do they always do good because of their signatures? I remember being able to adjust the Heuristics in the settings. Does Avira have a behavior blocker now? I know they were working on one at one point, but it did not work on 64bit systems if I remember correctly.
Yeah, sure... after all if you can't beat 'em (with a stick), may as as well whip 'em into submission until, according to you, either pay up or STFU. Little girls (to use your cliche' in pointless condescension) aside, the line isn't so thin between "whining" and making an issue of a valid PITA.
I think it can work in two ways, if a customer is not satisfied about the free version they will jump to another vendor with a free version, or they save a few bucks a pay for a license ... i think most of them will try another freebie (i f they do not want to pay)!
Anon, do you know if Avira detects and blocks this: http://blog.emsisoft.com/2015/07/27...which-protection-their-trojans-cant-get-past/ According to this, Aivra failed to detect this banking trojan-can you comment this? And, please note, that this is not old, it's new from this year 2015. As you can see: in the text: Emsisoft was able to block the Hacking Team trojan and was given the great honor of being blacklisted as a result! Sophos and CMC AV were the other programs that Hacking Team blacklisted. Comodo and Rising also did a great job by detecting and blocking Hacking Team’s trojans in most cases. A few other vendors showed “not-so-worrysome” popups for Hacking Team, while all other vendors were not able to detect the trojan at all. Also: Emsisoft Anti-Malware, Comodo Internet Security, Outpost Security Suite Pro and Trusport Total Security are the only vendors that were able to detect Finspy’s full trojan in all cases. As shown above, Emsisoft performed very consistent since both Hacking Team and Finfisher’s malware had issues getting past (if at all). Whatever program you choose, know that your privacy is important — don’t put it in the wrong hands. Anon, do you know anything about this, I mean Avira according to this actually failed-I could post you full detail in excel, but you can also download it from this link as well, to see the results of security/protection tests, but only if you want to, Anon.

Every year there are good discounts for just about any AV. Wilders members should be particularly well informed if they regularly check this website. I have been using Avira for many years, and can't remember ever paying the full price, my last invoice was for US $21 for 2 years which works out at less than $1 a month... I still remember the offer was available for months... The Pro version installed with the offline installer has no launcher.
I've just installed AVIRA again, same stand-alone installer and now the stupid launcher is not auto installing itself. Either it was a random glitch or they've seen our rage and cut the self installing mechanism. I'll stick with AVIRA for a while now and see. It's one of rare AV's that finally updates signatures in reasonable manner (every 2 hours) unlike some that still stick to 24 hour nonsense. Yeah, AVG and MSE, I'm talking about you!
At least for the stand alone installer that is. Not expecting them to drop it from the web installer that is served from their webpage...

i do own pro. also i beta test and i can tell you they plan to add the launcher to ALL versions in the future. they were going to previously as well till they decided to keep it in beta for a while longer. so free or pro will not matter unless they decide not to release the launcher for some reason. but everyone will eventually get it from what i am told.
You don't get it. When I installed a full installer on PC, it was just AV and still is. But on tablet, retarded launcher self installed. WHat's the variable that decides when to install the launcher? Or it's just completelly random nonsense.
Do you know how much time we have to wait until we get this through Avira Update? I still have 15.0.13.210 (05/10/2015).
