Hi! I'm a new user of the paid Avira Antivirus Pro 2015 and I am a bit confused about the web/browser protection features. The main reason could be, that in my German version the "web protection"-feature which you can turn on within the Antivirus Pro control center has the same name as the "Avira Browser Safety" - addon. They are both translated as "Browser-Schutz", so if you don't know the technical background you could think that it's the same thing which you can enable in Antivirus Pro and which needs the browser plugin installed. But as I understand now, they have nothing to do with each other, is that true? Avira Browser Safety = Search ratings in Google, blocks tracking cookies, prevents loading of sites which are known to be malicious Web protection = something like a proxy where the whole web traffic is scanned So both are not connected to each other and you can use "web protection" without the Browser Safety plugin. Is that true?
1) Yes it is. 2) Yes, it is. fyi: Test pages for Avira Web Protection: Test Page, Malware = http://www.avira.com/en/support-malware-test Test Page, Phishing URLs = http://www.avira.com/en/support-phishing-test http://www.avira.com/files/support/FAQ_KB/EN/howto_avira-web-protection_en.pdf
It has been reported by posters here to be working a while ago. It should still work on the current Win 10 TP.
Does anyone know how to get the Avira icon back next to the clock? It is enabled but I'm updating a new machine and after I did some updates it disappeared
Haha. I just checked, and it shows 47min left for me, meaning it will end when May 2 ends. But still 1 day too early Edit: ok the countdown is done, and I see the same as you 00, 00, 00, 00,...on May 3. "may the third be with you"
Don't count ... on counter! ----------------------------------- That's what I thought also (on Monday, May 4th) and that's what actually is. But the "alien" producer forgot to adjust the counter with the date...........

Assuming you have enabled "show icon and notifications" in Notifications Window, then you will have to make a shorcut to avgnt.exe which is the Avira program folder and place in your startup folder. This worked for me yesterday.
I've checked this combination a while ago and it seems to work. Due it is not a final version I could not make sure that it will stay after updating. Our dev-dept. is working on this one under pressure.
Maybe not after the windows 8 situation, the team seems more worrying on new windows compatibility that never before
Other AV's are W10 compatible. Avira is always late, very late, imo........ And the excuse is always the same: “We are working very hard to get our products Windows 7-compatible as soon as possible,” “We are working very hard to get our products Windows 8-compatible as soon as possible,” “We are working very hard to get our products Windows 8-compatible as soon as possible” “We are working very hard to get our products Windows 8.1-compatible as soon as possible” ------------------------- Windows 10 Launching This Summer in 190 Countries and 111 Languages http://blogs.windows.com/bloggingwi...is-summer-in-190-countries-and-111-languages/
I can imagine that every new version of Windows must be a nightmare for developers particularly considering that as of lately MS is churning out new OSs every other year, IMO unnecessarily, but probably the only way to make money for such a behemoth.
