"Ok, to put this issue at ease, and not risk thread locking, I shall ask this weekend, specifically for IS, if it is ever going to be discontinued in the near future."

So, what happened with the "asking"o_O

On Facebook 360 forum, the latest answer about 360IS is more than a month old, so I assume we have the answer already.

    360IS is dead.

    RIP

A million apologies, I was supposed to ask them, but got caught in extremely busy work, so I forgot.
I just saw your message and immediately sent them, as soon as I see reply from them I will post it here:

But still at the latest test from AV-comparatives 360 IS earns 99,7 % in real-world protection test ;)
So thats pretty good for a dead product ?!

I believe that you should qualify the message you sent to specifically identify 360IS being the product of concern (for being discontinued).

It's not yet dead, so it's still receiving AV signature updates, therefore present scores are no indication of future scores.

    Hi

Anyone knows anything about the difference of 360IS 4.9 and 5.0 Beta ?

I`ve searched the net about it and could only find old info from january saying that it`s only language differences , surely it must be more by now !

The major difference regarding protection is that 4.9 does not have the ability to stop malware from creating an auto-start routine. As an example, assume you come across a true Zero-day Ransomware or Winlock file and run it. Upon system reboot with 5 beta you will be left with an orphaned malware file somewhere on your disk; with 4.9 you will have an infected and unusable system.

There is no valid reason not to use the 5 beta version.

    Hi Cruelsister

Wow - that is some difference - that is almost the same formerly problem as with 360TS then .
That is a major improvement and gets me wondering why it has not gone final after all this time and also why there is so little info about such an important thing .

Anyway - thanks for the info - 5.0Beta it is then !

By the way - do you know if there is any changelog info about the IS Beta anywhere .

Because of the above, it works, others have noticed 360IS is more secured compared to 360TS and 360TS have more bugs than 360IS

    Hi,

An AV is a critical / sensitive software; "it works" is not enough to make it a good software; an antivirus needs attendance day and night from a specialized team in order to keep up with continuously modifying malwares....

First, it detects all my malwares from my continuously infected flash drive.
Second, I have paired it with Comodo to fully virtualise any unknown stuff
Third, I am running all my browser in sandboxie
Fouth, 360 QVMII and heuristics are mostly cloud base. So even if they don't update 360IS, 360 QVMII and heuristics will be updated.
Fifth, I won't use back avast (I do not like the way avast is heading) or Kaspersky (they always release unstable products for consumer but not for business)

Until such time where 360IS is not catching malware from my USB drive, then I will think about changing. As long as it catches stuff, it will stay.
I belive point 4 is the most relevant and important in response to your statement.

you could use norton's free dns service for web protection, if you like.
google for norton connectsafe, no need to install anything, you just change your web browser proxy settings..

    Hi

I am more interested in if they have implemented the enhancements from 5.0 beta in the versions of 4.9 which has been a couple since that beta .

I know that someone had tested 4.9 from the time before the beta and then later on the beta itself and discovered the major flaw in 4.9 and then the correction of that in the beta .

It seems reasonable that that flaw would have been corrected in later 4.9 versions - is there anyone who have tested that ?

If they have not but still are distributing 4.9 with that major flaw on their home site then they are committing a type of fraud .
