I am thinking of changing from comodo firewall as it is far too difficult to free something that is sandboxed. i want a firewall with HIPS and sandbox but easy to 'unsandbox' a file that should not be sandboxed. Something like right click add to trusted files instead of digging in the bowels of comodo when it sandboxes a program it should not and does it again when told not to
Online armor is a great firewall, but it hasn't been updated in over a year and may have been abandoned by Emsisoft. That is maybe they no longer plan to update and support Online Armor as a standalone product anymore. Also there aren't many reviews of Online Armor in the net you could try Zonealarm Firewall 2015, it is currently reviewed by PC world as editor's choice
Great firewall with HIPS and "limited rights" mode (RS)....similar feature one can find in Privatefirewall. Both apps are easy to setup in such mode. @VectorFool OA abandoned?...it's no matter when we speak about 1-2 years old (or more) firewalls that are apps which not needed so often updates...they just work without signatures.
It s the new trend among forum posters. If some security software is not "upgraded" with a new interface it s abandoned. As long as the firewall works ,it s not bugged ,and the AV (if it s the case) gets the definitions updates it s up to date.
well I for one am not talking about upgrade of interface or looks just for upgrade's sake, what I meant was updated firewall engine, newer whitelist definitions etc. what bothered me is that there isn't any beta updates on OA for the last year, you'd have to agree that's odd!
OA is still connected with its own cloud called Anti-Malware Network...it's default switched "on" so the most important info is sent ot the users.
Not really. OA is a mature product, and the focus has been on the Internet Security Product. They has already stated an update is planned, just it hasn't been given a time table. OA is still being sold and it is supported in their forums.
i would seperate such software - sandboxie for the sandbox - best sandbox ever - and any tiny firewall will do. hips is useless icing - if you want trouble, install any hips.
Please bear in mind that OA's RunSafer works rather differently compared to Comodo's sandbox, especially if you used the Full Virtualization mode in the later. Programs aren't restricted by default although you can set certain programs to always run restricted, could also be manually done via context-menu when about to launch a program or through a displayed popup.
I believe RunSafer is essentially the same as DropMyRights. http://help.emsisoft.com/oa/KF-RunSafer.shtml http://www.it.cornell.edu/security/howto/less_priv.cfm
The latest version of Comodo is much lighter and more effective than any I have tried before. https://www.wilderssecurity.com/thre...virus-firewall-8-0-0-4337-is-released.370378/
Yes. The thing is Comodo's sandbox has four or five modes while OA's RunSafer is more linear. Especially when the user configured Comodo's sandbox in Full Virtualization mode, we can't compare those two. And as I have previously stated, Comodo's sandbox sandboxes "outsider" programs by default while in OA the user must explicitly tell the HIPS to run the program in RunSafer mode, which is not necessarily a bad thing but might become an inconvenience to those who have been getting used to automation. EDIT: I should be apologizing for my failure in communicating my words. When I said they work differently, I wasn't talking about technical aspects but more into the practical matters. Sorry for not being clear.
Do not believe whenever you read such troll/one-way statements just because the user had a problem with it. The user comes weekly, posts some junk here and there to get some reactions and then disappears. Then the same after sometime. LoL. 2015 has no more no less problems to install/uninstall than any other security tool out there. The user has just won my ignore list...
I feel that to call it trolling is way over the top imo. Have installed and uninstalled Comodo many times without a problem wish I could say the same for OA, just could never get it to work with Sandboxie. Outpost has great HIPS which have never caused me any conflicts currently I`m using OutpostSS Pro with Sandboxie. Regards Eck
