Just bought an ADSL connection . I have Zonealarm Pro 5.5 installed and every time Windows XP starts i get these messages "Generic host process wants to accept connections from the trusted zone. ip:192.168.1.1 : DNS", Generic host process wants to act as a server. ip:0.0.0.0 port 135", "Generic host process wants to accept connections from the internet. ip:239.255.255.250 port 1900". Should i worry about these messages and what do you think is the best choise for each one of these? I have scanned my c:\windows directory with Kaspersky in safe mode and found nothing. I have also installed SP2 and the latest updates

    Hi infini

Do you have router in place (does modem also do double duty as router)?

You could add your LAN subnet to the Trusted zone (192.18.1.0/255.255.255.0), if not already there.
Permit Generic Host Process outbound, Permit Trusted server, Deny Internet Server.

You mean to allow it to accept connections from the trusted zone, to act as a server and deny to accept connections from the internet, right? As for the modem/router i am not very satisfied with it. Every now and then the wan ip led switches off and remains like this.

Right, but you could also just leave it to prompt (?) for Trusted zone server and let it prompt to what see what may need it or be using it first. Most cases you will always want to Deny Internet zone server.

Do you loose you IP/connection when this happens?

Is there any logging capability in your router/modem?

I think that my problem is propably related to port triggering settings in my router. When i removed them everything works ok, until now :) . I will keep you informed.
