    Hi,

Thanks, i'll send all this to RK for analysis.
As you can read in the post your quoted :

For the time being, if you do not trust RK, then simply use the RK-free version of our products.

May we get back to a discussion about Zer0 which is what this topic is about ?

    Thanks !

I'm on v5 for production machines. I tested the beta 6 and had problems. There is a new beta 6, but I haven't tested it yet. You don't *need* it with FDE, but if it's a spinner, it doesn't hurt. I do run it on various SSD's as well...we'll see how they hold up. Zer0 fills a need for me, so I like it. I did the portable .7z version.

i see thanks for the reply on that pauly, and as said i do like the idea of what bcwipe v5 does ,its just the general principle of wearing down your ssd on purpose without any gain from it that irks me , but to each his own i guess ;)

p.s: thou you still havent explained that "need" of yours Zer0 fills ,yes im an easily intrigued person thank you ,lols ;)

Zer0 is a user-friendly lightweight, drag'n'drop based solution for secured file deletion. That's it !

wonder what kind of need that fills thou since bcwipe does that already ....without having to drag n drop ...if you like :)

not that im saying that one wouldnt need a program like Zer0 , id just like to know what reason there would be if one already has bcwipe , no offense

That's what I'm talking about, too. We wouldn't be discussing one without the other.

    Thanks!

(Not to mention it's all relevant in this particular category.)

Zer0 is one portable executable. It is for a machine that I install absolutely nothing on (Server 2008 R2), for fear of trashing the OS and bringing my mission critical stuff to a screeching halt. It needs to run flawlessly, 24/7...forever. So I like this app for that machine, when I need to copy something sensitive to it, and then get rid of it.

I have used your program on two different occasions and still find that it doesn't deal with file names. I put together a collection of photos, text files, apps, etc. and randomly named them, then used your application. Easy forensic collection of file names.

What do you mean ? Does is leaves files it was supposed to delete ?
What do you mean by "Easy forensic collection of file names" ?

Sorry. I thought I was clear, but I'll give you an example...

I mean the files may be unrecoverable, but the file names are left intact and ripe for forensic collection.
Example: OffshoreBanking.doc is not recoverable but the file name is still clearly shown - enough, on its own for privacy invasion or worse.

Does this work better (in terms of secure file deletion) than my McAfee's anti-virus' shredder software? Or is the McAfee shredder software not an actual secured file deletion process?

Zer0 is supposed to scramble file names as well. Isn't it the case on your system ?
