(Now with poll ! ) My is only Dr.Web CureIt ! But when I detect infection - go with system restore ! Acronis image of C partition.
" Only detection ! If detected I restore system ! " If I had to find a rootkit, format of all the HD, beginning from the mbr, and after image restore.
Hey Athletic My favorite on demand scanner is without doubt Malwarebyte (paid of course) . Normally if I got infected, If I was so unfortunate, I would just roll out a drive image,... much easier. But if I have to retrieve some documents or files that was not backed up,... on a strongly infected machine... I would use Sardu, a multiboot disk to removal .
Where's the others choice? I would restore an infected system, unless it's a download I've never executed.
TDSS Killer JavaRa RKILL.com AVZ4 Dr Web Cureit SuperAntiSpyware Portable Hitman Pro Emsisoft Emergency
I prefer portable only and in this order: HijackThis, Hitman Pro (detection only), SUPERAntiSpyware, Emsisoft Emergency, Dr.Web CureIt, Sophos Anti-Rootkit, CCleaner.
I usually scan files with Avira Premium, MBAM Pro, and sometimes Hitman Pro. I never do full scans though, and have never detected malware on my real system (meaning that whenever I "expected" to find malware it was always on a virtual volume therefore easily manageable with a simple reboot). I also think that the best way to remove any problem (malware and not) is through the restoration of a system image.
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (PRO), Emsisoft Emergency Kit: only detection! If detected I restore system!
Yes, where's Emsisoft? Their Emergency Kit is the only portable scanner (along with Comodo CE) with an updater, so you don't have to download it every time you wanna scan. If only its scans would be faster
Hello! Create a system image with each update/change significantly, so it is once a week, sometimes two. Use the excellent Keriver 1-Click Restore Pro, so simple, so practical and have restored my image over 200 times - obviously not by viruses (Makes about 2 years that I am not infected) - and never gave any problem.
If I start suspecting of something, these tools, individually or together (depends), always help in detection/removal: - Malwarebytes Anti-Malware - Hitman Pro - Combofix - McAfee Stinger - McAfee HijackThis - Norton Power Eraser - Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool If the suspicion becomes big enough (never occurred in the last 5-6 years), then I might do a secure drive cleaning with: - Jetico BCWipe Total WipeOut And re-install OS. Note: I do drive cleaning with Jetico BPWipe Total WipeOut and OS re-installations for other, totally different, reasons.
Emsisoft and SAS do the job for me, though I run Hitman Pro every so often. Anything more is just unnecessary/useless for me.
