Probably except that a team of volunteers isn't the same as a company with paid employees. To me it's a matter of long-term stability. But all of that is neither here nor there as I'm a µBO user as long as their "team" and I are alive.
Voted uBlock Origin + DNS. This combination assures me simplicity and functionality even on the rare websites where I need to disable UBO (and don't have time to check the problem).
I use uBlock Origin and that's first thing I install after Firefox initial setup. Sometimes, when supporting our customers, I connect to their computer and some of them don't use adblocker. Seeing how some webpages look without adblocker makes me sick.
Same. I think an ad blocker is more essential these days than AV with pop-ups and pop-unders trying to hijack your clicks.
And without cosmetic filtering, it is terrifying to see, just how much space those ads take. Only 3 banners and roughly 60-80%.
Hi TairikuOkami may i know which ads blocker do you use? just becase in the ublock origin "in filters list " i have "parse and enforce costmetic filters" On but softpedia doesn't look like yours thanks
Doesn't that contradict your previous post? NextDNS (which I'm using on my iPhone as well) can't perform cosmetic filtering.
I tried Ghostery. In my opinion it is inferior to uBlock Origin Lite. URL tracking parameters are not blocked. I notice ads in various websites that are also blocked by uBlock Origin Lite.
uBlock Origin is always my favorite adBlocker. When the AdGuard Team has fixed (I hope by June 2025) these 2 major problems: Automatic update of Custom filters with each new version of the extension. Efficient operation of the “removeparam” rules in Custom filters. I will be able to permanently replace uBlock Origin with AdGuard AdBlocker v.5.x in Edge.
I don't know how you all use uBlock Origin, my issue with it is when I add the "I don't care about cookies filter", it doesn't work, I still see those annoying cookie consent notices eveywhere.
This is not uBO-related. I used that filter list a couple of years ago and also found it useless. You would get the same poor results with other "blockers" such as AdGuard. To get rid of many/most cookie consent notices, you should use a separate addon. I've been using the addon "I still don't care about cookies" and like it. It's not perfect, but it does a much better job than the "I don't care about cookies" filter list. More info here: https://github.com/OhMyGuus/I-Still-Dont-Care-About-Cookies
