    Hi,

I'm intending to install a windows xp pro 64-bit version : does this mean that every app needs to be a 64-bit version, or will a 32-bit app work too with this kind of OS ? :doubt:

Nearly all 32-bit apps will work fine. Apps that have drivers will need 64-bit drivers. You will also need 64-bit shell extensions if you want to see the shell extension in a 64-bit app - you can have both 32-bit and 64-bit shell extensions installed at the same time though.

What Defenestration is saying is correct. I would like to add that you need to make certain that 64 bit drivers are available for all of your hardware. For the longest time 64 bit drivers were very hard to find. It is now a lot better.

Also be aware that 64 bit security apps. are a bit scarce but getting better. Has to do with the kernel interaction\or lack of available in 64 opposed to 32.
