X, the social network has updated its privacy policy to include carveouts for “biometric information” and “employment history.” https://www.theverge.com/2023/8/31/23853618/x-privacy-policy-update-biometrics-job-history Also in the article: "X Corp. was named in a proposed class action lawsuit in July over claims that its data collection violates the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act. The lawsuit alleges that X “has not adequately informed individuals” that it “collects and/or stores their biometric identifiers in every photograph containing a face” that’s uploaded to the platform."
Contrary to this absolutely mindless and ridiculous scraping & siphoning data routine social sites use, i employed a simple deterrent to what anyone with half a brain SHOULD DONE long time ago. Ever since well over 15 years ago i enter completely BOGUS personal info and that's that. WHY? Because some of us savvy internet user's stretching back to Windows 98 or XP HAD TO KNOW it was going to happen. The throwing personal info out for sale as well as hackers tapping into those sites no matter what they are. They take it for granted that user's will provide them a free trove of personal details etc Not happening nor ever will here on this end. If a site needs that info, they better have a local office nearby where you can make them SIGN documents that they WILL be held responsible and liable for lawsuit if not 100% privately secured. Which we all know they will never do when there are so many gullible fools willingly dishing out their life history to strangers or worse yet criminal syndicates.
I do the same thing that Easter does in this regard. Nobody needs my actual "data" while I am using a social site. Even in this wonderful forum I doubt many would be using their real names as a username. There is nothing to gain and certainly a bunch to lose by providing your "real" data on social sites. Don't want to be a buzz-kill about it but you have to consider all the data you are handy over daily otherwise.
