Privacy author/broadcaster etc, Dr. Katherine Albrecht

    It turns out she's actively involved in www.ixquick.com - www.startpage.com - www.startingpage.com :)

So it's nice to know she's onboard :thumb:

I still don't know how they have, & continue to make it ALL pay though ? That's what intrigues me !

I suppose Goggle ads pay well?

There's actually something that intrigues me, as well. Chromium reports https://eu.ixquick.com as only showing secure content (https). But, looking at the source code, depending of the word/set of words we look for in the search engine, the ads will be in http.

The difference in between ixquick and startpage are the results, ixquick gets its results from various search engines (Google,Yahoo,Wikipedia, etc), Startpage only gets results from Google, I have tried it various times and StartPage and Google results are 100% the same, with the added privacy benefit in StartPage of course.

And as for how it gets financed, it is pretty obvious that the results contain Google adverts just like Google does, and I am happy they have a business model because otherwise I doubt they would last long.
