I refer to my post here

After the reboot, my system went into a partial freeze, i.e. it started loading the systray icons, and then stopped. I waited a few minutes, but my system wouldn't respond any further. So, I decided to press the soft reboot button on the PC tower.

Subsequently, when this time reboot completed, WSA was still installed and launched into a scan, that resulted in a detection as follows... very strange!

Also, the WSA tray icon normally is one of the first to load, however after the unsuccessful uninstall attempt, now it loads much later.

Blocking ewido could be what's causing it - I suggest writing into our support inbox with a scan log to have them whitelist it (although you might be the last user still using it :))

Yes, I do march to the beat of a different drum. :D

Rather, than do that I would like to uninstall as you suggested in our recent exchange of PM's

Any magic CMD command to scour WSA from my system, so I can fresh install?

That shouldn't have been involved, because I manually launch Ewido, after WSA and all other icons that load in the systray at boot.

Using the normal uninstaller will be sufficient - just ensure that it has administrative privileges to run, and it will be able to clear everything out. It's probably worth not rebooting too quickly (as it takes a few moments for the uninstall to finish).

I am the only one that touches this computer, and I always run in admin mode. But, is that the same as having administrative privileges?

Also being connected to the internet is necessary during WSA uninstallation.

So, I have gone from previously 158 total scans, now having just 2 total scans done. However, I just want to uninstall. Why so hard to do?

I am sure that having so many security programs running in real-time does not help (although I know that you have been doing this for awhile now ;) ).

By "normal uninstaller" do you mean the built-in windows controlpanel: add or remove programs ?

Another question: How can we uninstall webroot if it isn't listed in the installed programs list? I tried to remove webroot when the update came out, so i can install 8.0.4.17. fresh. Something must have gone wrong, webroot disappeared from the installed programs list, but it is still running :D

I guess it's in "ninja mode :ninja: " now :D

That statement alone would keep me away from this software. Gives me the heeby jeebies.

Install WSA over top then reboot then see if it shows up then you can do a clean reinstall with a reboot in between.

Try removing WSA in safe mode with networking.

Thanks that was the first thing i tried, and it didn't work. I tried it a couple of times back then (a few days ago) and tried it now just to be sure, but it doesn't work unfortunately.

I mean WSA works allright, but it doesn't show up in the installed apps list. And since most 3rd party uninstaller programs use this list too, they don't work either :\

Have a look at this KB article to see if it helps: https://community.webroot.com/t5/We...ntrol-Panel-and-Start/ta-p/34688#.UlFlxhDVGN8

It's a full cloud security solution my friend. You would gotten the heeby jeebies a long time ago. WSA is the fastest, lightest and most effective security solution.:thumb: No worries.;)

I'm well acquainted with this. It's normal to have a fresh automatic install of WSA when it's not completely uninstalled at the previous attempt. This happened to me on many occasions but only due to lack of internet connection during uninstallation.

Seems to me one of your software may be blocking a process of WSA during uninstallation. I think you could close/shut down protection of all your running software and try to uninstall WSA with internet connection. See if the browser opens up with a webpage of Webroot asking you to tell the team about the reason for the uninstallation. Write something, send and close the browser. Reboot and see if WSA is still there.

Tell us at which step of the above does WSA get stuck. Then it would be clear what the problem is.:)
