Thanks Joe, just thought it might be a way of keeping suggestions together for easy access and reference
Bring back the browser tab like with SafeOnline for Identity Shield It could be the lock icon in systray by default and advanced users could change it to the browser tab for better indication if it's working correctly and see details like IP adress and IP verification status.
I've been saying something similar for quite some time BoerenkoolMetWorst : https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=1918204&postcount=173 And I'm not sure that they're not, in fact, yet planning to display IP Address somehow, even without a browser tab (BrightCloud being employed). However, the impression I got was that the newly implemented Protected Applications feature was giving problems with browser tab, so they opted for the Centralised Protection Module method, lock on tray icon.
I liked the old browser tab,but I believe it was a problem for the PrevX devs to keep up with the constant updates of many browsers and that's why it's been ditched Personally I'd like to see a return of the old traffic light icon to quickly determine the status.
Ah, that's interesting. That would explain it, still it's a pity They have to keep up anyway to protect them properly, whether they put a tab over it or not.
I'm not bothered about the browser tab. I hardly ever used it anyway as I know a warning will come up if entering a known malicious website either by domain or IP address. In fact, I've not entered any websites into the protected websites list as all websites are protected. Seems moot to do that IMO; the only reason to do that is if you wanted to up the security level for a certain site. I have all http: set to high in any case. [https: is set to maximum as it should be.]
Just a slight (non-expert) suggestion/observation re Scan Detections feature and the File Submit feature : When there is a detection, it could be FP, so user given option to uncheck, or "copy filename" (to where? does it work ok?), or save a ScanLog and determine MD5 of "questionable file" for checking, or use File Submission in application (can confirm if working ok?), or submit to report@prevxresearch or future Webroot equivalent. I'm wondering e.g.why there aren't any immediate/easy/convenient options available, other than "copy filename" for novices/inexperienced home users? Thanks
I submit the MD5 from the log to the support inbox for now: https://www.webrootanywhere.com/servicewelcome.asp? if they need the file they will send you an email address to send to! TH
I agree - while it is nice to have the browser tab, it does it automatically for you now on any important website so it isn't as necessary. Of course, if there is more demand for it we can consider adding it back in, but the centralized indicator of the active protection of the foreground window has proven to be more user-friendly so far.
This is the preferred method at the moment - we'll likely be adding in email address collection within the client but right now it is much more efficient to process submissions from our support site directly rather than from the client software.
So the Submit a File in the client is still not active at this point and there could be a possibility it will be removed just to clarify? TH
I suspect the submit file option is for those who don't have the means or know how to send in MD5 hashes.
I have always hated this method, and would prefer from within the client software, with an option to contact me if they require additional information.
I agree this is the best option then we don't have send the file in a .RAR or 7-Zip but now really all they need is the MD5 from a scan log and not necessarily the file! TH
I don't think it will be removed but at the moment, it is much faster and more efficient to write into our support inbox.
There is under PC Security>Quarantine>Detection Configuration but maybe it something they can rethink? TH
Or System Tools>System Control>Control Active Processes and choose Allow>Monitor>Block. Hopefully Joe can fill us in with more info! TH
I think JCRUYFF may have meant the exclusion of files/folders. We have been told it is being considered, but it's not as straight forward as that. JCRUYFF, see PrevxHelp's reply on this here.
Hi Please Remove Protection Statics Feature , i don`t what is the purpose of that feature its don`t help in anything or add a option to don`t record any events. Thanks.
Click one of the lines to see what events are taking place in realtime. This also let's us measure if there is an issue monitoring the system in some cases, as well as give the user control over the monitoring at a very granular level.
