I'm wondering what the point of the green checkmark in search results is. Everything has a green tick; search for 'keygens' for example, and each site has a green tick. To some, this may mean the site is safe to visit when we know that a lot of them aren't. [I realise WSA should alert if malicious content/exploits lie within, but trying to understand the purpose of the green tick.]
Currently the database behind the search engine analysis isn't as populated as it will be in the future. It is giving a "Good/Bad" determination for if the site is primarily known to be spreading malware. We will be adding in shades of gray (or orange ) which will cover keygen websites much better. If you're seeing any websites that are spreading malware that we aren't blocking, send me a PM with a link and I'll get them added. Thanks!
Is your signature current with what software you have installed? AdMuncher could possibly be preventing search ratings from working, but I haven't seen other reports of this. Also, do you have the "Identity & Privacy" tab on your main UI? The search annotations are dependent on Identity & Privacy being installed at the moment. Thanks!
actually its a good thing u pointed that out, i had forgotten to remove AdMuncher from my sig since i stopped using it months ago and yes i do have the "Identity & Privacy" tab in the main UI. im also in the closed beta update path since im using 7.9.0.4 if that means anything
well i just tried disabling all of avasts shields and that was definitely the problem, once i disabled them all, i saw the search result rating, wen i re-enabled avast, they were gone again.
Aha! Thanks for that testing. Could you let me know exactly what version of Avast you're using so that we can try to reproduce/fix it? Thanks
im using Avast Internet Security v6.0.1203 Shields installed are: - File System Shield - Mail Shield - Web Shield - Network Shield - Behavior Shield both the firewall and webrep are not installed
Hi I Have WSA Essentials or Complete(aaaa i don`t even know which version i have -.-) , i use chrome as my main browser and i don`t have been see any checkmark green/grey that mean i am not protected?
The checkmarks are only shown in IE/FF but if you click on a malicious website, it will be blocked in IE/FF/Chrome/Opera/Safari.
It won't support it by default but you can add protection for it within the Identity Shield protected applications list.
