    The "ax" wifi reportedly has 6 GB (yes gigabit) speeds. I think it'll be awhile before my ISP fires that much down the pipe, but its a nice dream!

    With all the interference from my neighbors Wifi APs I will expect around 200 MB/s.

    There seems to be some debate on whether this can be upgraded with a firmware update on many devices. It will certainly slow adoption if we have to replace everything.

    I wondered that also. I have a suspicion they are just saying that because they know there's very little chance the "usual" router manufacturers will update current router models. Opting instead to push newer "more secure" models.

    However I don't see why it wouldn't be possible for Android/iOS to adopt this.

    Yes and others as well. I'm not sure, but I think I remember installing a manual update on a WinXP box for WPA2 support because it didn't support it out of the box.
