Not sure what that means. His Plus version is a lifetime membership so it's either free or plus.

He's meaning upgrade from free to plus.

In other words, full licence. Can't beat that deal.

Upgrades means to upgrade from the free version to the Plus version. So every one can buy it as a full version, even if you are not yet using the free version.

It's an excellent deal, so excellent that everyone should own a copy. :thumb: :D

How does the program author know the life time of your PC?

He doesn't. But the author seems to be incredibly fair and honest, and no doubt hopes that you will be also.

That's a fantastic deal. Does anyone have any feelings on WinPatrol, though? I gather it's nowhere near as effective as, say, GesWall - and that having something like a HIPS in place might render WinPatrol redundant.

Also, any known conflicts? As a user of x64 Win 7, many HIPS options are either closed to me, or ineffective. WinPatrol sounds nice and lightweight, but that, combined with a $0.99 price tag, sets off my "Too Good to Be True" alarm.

    .
I've been using Winpatrol for years and currently have it installed on Win 7 x64 with no problems. Winpatrol brings together and makes it easy to manage information, such as startup items and IE BHOs that normally you have to find in different places. It also monitors some system areas and will alert to changes, but I don't think of it as heavy duty protection against malware. Just install the free version and see what it's about.

I've been using the free version of WinPatrol for years and it's one of those very rare applications that just does it's job effectively and consistently and I can't remember a single time it gave me a problem except for it not being Vista compatible when Vista was first released, and a two or three day period in 2006 or '07 (I don't remember exactly) when the tray icon would mysteriously disappear.

Never have I felt that WinPatrol was slowing down my computer or causing another application to malfunction.
In addition to serving as a light HIPS, it also monitors start-up programs, active processes, system services, and more.

Along with CCleaner, I consider it to be an indispensable program and have unequivocally recommended it on numerous occasions.
Having said all of the above, I have never used the paid version, but I hope to change that on the 29th.

Yes, it's definitely too good to be true.
I recommend that you don't buy it on the 29th.
That will make one less person on their server when I am trying to connect (along with thousands of others) to get this terrific deal! ;)

Yea, sorry but obviously I have to make this a one coupon per person or some company could come in and buy 1000.

As I explain in my blog this is meant to be an experiment to see if the software industry is facing the same future as the music and publishing industries. I will most certainly lose money but hoping the extra exposure will somehow balance it out. Mostly I'm just too curious for my own good. :D

I could have picked a better time for this experiment but I am still working the new version. :thumb:

I don't remember ever question in the thread but a credit card isn't required. Payment options can be found on http://www.winpatrol.com/99cents.html Payments must be post marked by Jan 30th.

Thank you for all the kind comments here.

    Bill
