Appreciate the scheduled roll out but i'll be one who won't give it even a glance, security vendors have it all covered already and will add any missing pieces afterwards.

    Enjoy another HUGE patch.

:cautious: If you remember, I was the one who pointed out the crapiness of SP3, I was just letting the Other Minions know when to destroy their computer with it :shifty:

is there anyway one can update the beta to final, i have it slipstreamed and sp3 isn't showing @ add/remove

or is a complete reinstall required?!

At home, I may try it fairly early on, once it's in final release. I won't be letting it near any of my PCs at work for quite some time. Who knows what it will break? Beta testing really doesn't give businesses a clue on how well Service Packs interact with proprietary software...

BTW... Anyone wanting to block SP3 from Windows Update, here is the blocker download link from MS

I think I'm going to install SP3, just to see if those speed increases some are claiming are real...

If not, back to SP2 image...

Are you serious or pulling our leg here. From the majority of reviews of the RC's i read nothing of performance enhancements coming due to SP3 and that they were mainly security related and of course the ususal easter egg they throw in for good measure.

If so, where exactly are you realizing noticable improvements at in the speedo department with it?

    Hello,
DVD, care to elaborate on your statement?
Because, my testing shows nothing destructive.

I'm not, microsoft needs to get rid of that terrible marketing habit, so then, a couple years later, every microsoft XP user who hasn't upgraded is infected with viruses.

    Hello,
I have a machine running XP not updated since 2004 and it has not been infected with viruses ... so ... Who do we blame? The code or the users?

Been using RC-Beta SP3 for many months -I surely cannot detect any speed increases.
Would have to conclude its all in the imagination-a placebo.
If you look at the new additions-it can be seen that they would not increase performance

There also should be no reason to fear SP3-after all its mainly a consolidation of all the fixes, updates etc, plus some new ones.

No big deal one way or the other

The whole issue seems a non issue!!

I once saw in some article that MS threatened to fire employees who where responsible for puting eeggs in software, to avoid unnecessary bloat.

It was fun searching for those... The one in office97 was awesome...

Even it is still correct, Microsoft may make the press release late in the afternoon or evening, or maybe tomorrow. As of now, there is still no SP3 in the MSDN Subscriber download.
