I'm thinking about upgrading to XP SP3, but I've heard that some security software doesn't work well with this service pack because SP3 uses the same PatchGuard technology as Vista? Is this true?

    Thanks!

Hmm, haven't notice any problems w/ the stuff I'm using here... Using Avira Free/Premium/Security Suite, CIS/CFP, NIS 2009, MBAM, NOD32, Online Armor, Returnil, SAS, ThreatFire, Zemana AntiLogger and probably bunch of others I don't recall right now on a variety of XP SP3 boxes.

No problems with Returnil and SandboxIE
Also MBAM and SAS on demand gave no trouble.

SP3 shouldn't break security software - the kernel is virtually identical and PatchGuard is not implemented in it, only in the 64bit versions :)
