The question has been answered many times in a number of threads. No, you need to turn the virtual Mode off to install Windows/Microsoft updates. For those using RVS Lite 2011, the System Guard also needs to be deactivated as it will block the updates.

In RSS, you do not need to deactivate the Virus Guard, just the Virtual Mode.

We have systems with RSS installed and the hard drives are virtualised.

Several systems have got into a boot loop - trying to install Windows Updates. The machine starts and then gets through about 30% of the installation of the update and then restarts.

I do not understand how the update is present at reboot when the drive is virtualised?

I assumed that if the drive was virtualised no update would be able to install?

Are you saving the update files through the File Manager or downloading them to a non-system or network drive?
