It said there are 3 windows updates and I updated it lots of times by shutting down my computer and then after restarting my computer, It said the same 3 updates again and I updated it but it keeps asking me to update those same updates..what should I do?? Last time, I went to update.microsoft.com and I'm worried maybe that affected this whole Windows updates. This is happening for my XP computer.

Did you view the update history to see if they failed?

I have the same problem (KB2518864, KB2572073, KB2633880) which started this afternoon. I got so frustrated that I Restored a Differential Image of my Windows System Partition which was made two (2) days ago. The problem came right back. I looked on the Microsoft Answers Forum and there are a "bunch" of people reporting the same problem beginning today.

I turned off Windows Update for just those three items until Microsoft fixes the issue.

She said the updates didn't fail. Here is a picture of it.

Is this happening to just XP?

Maybe. No issues here with 7 x64.

I already saw this happening before with other updates, the only solution is to wait corrected updates from the other side.

    Meanwhile, just ignore them.

How would one ignore these 3 updates on XP? It keeps installing every time she shuts down her PC.

Turn off windows updates, but try not to forget to check it every so often for other updates and to see if the problems ones are fixed.

I would just tell Windows Update to "Hide" those three updates

Internet Explorer -> Tools -> Windows Update -> Custom

Uncheck the box next to each of the three Windows Updates and then for each of the three Windows Updates check the box telling Windows Update to Hide that Update.

This question was also raised over at the Avast forums, and it appears from the discussion there that (a) it's specific to .NET framework, and (b) only affects users on XP. Also, it seems to be a glitch in MS Update rather than a user-end problem -- note that the dates of the offered updates are relatively old.

The suggested work-around is to set your MS Updates to notify-only until MS wakes up to the problem and gets it fixed. You also have the option to set these specific updates (typically there's 3) to "never show again".

Sometimes if I have problems getting updates to install, I'll download the executable and they usually install. It can be a challenge to find them at times, but just search for "download" and "update number, i.e. KB..." Keep plugging in different search criteria and eventually you'll get it. Can't guarantee it'll work in this case but it might, and it's better than waiting on MS. :)

Again going by fresh postings over at Avast, MS seems to have fixed the problem as of this morning.
