Windows Update...

I am wondering, I haven't Windows updated since around the 1st of last month, and just recently checked it tonight, but none of the updates are listed that have been released! not even the new version of DirectX (9.0c) - Is it that my system is not affected, or what? (I am on Windows 2000 Pro)

 

In this thread, we talked about the last update. My home computer updated Aug 1. My work computer, which is Win 2k, updated Aug 2. Are you using v4, or v5 of WindowsUpdate?

I have v4 of Windows Update. I am running Windows 2000 Pro with SP4.

 

Do you have Belarc Advisor on your PC? If not, please install it. It will generate a report and tell you specifically which updates failed to install, and it will provide links where to download them from Microsoft.

I have Belarc installed, however, Windows update is NOT finding any critical updates! - And I know I am missing one.

Belarc Advisor will tell you which ones are missing. Look in the "Installed Microsoft Hotfixes" section. Any hotfixes that are not installed will have a red X instead of a green check mark. If there is a red X, then there will be a link to take you to the hotfix site.

I can check that with my work computer tomorrow to confirm it for you. My work PC is Windows 2K as well.

 

You can double-check by using Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer V1.2. Looks like it's been updated for XP SP2.
