    Hey all,

I have Nod32 v2.7 and windows live messenger. Do i have to set messenger to scan the transferred files or the AMON / IMON modules take care of the virus check by default?

    Thnaks!

Not necessary . NOD32 and modules take care of them .

IMON will scan them before they are written on the hard drive. AMON will scan them on-create and on-access (and archives upon execute)

It's true that AMON/IMON will take care of them, but to be able to transfer all kind of attachments using windows live messenger you have to specify a antivirus to use for the file transfer. You could use Windows Live OneCare safety scanner or another av software you have installed like nod32. I used the OneCare option in the past, but everytime i transferred a file i had to wait for the AV to update before the transfer started. Using nod32 instead this was no longer a issue. One example of file attachments you will not be able to transfer using windows live messenger without specify some AV software to use is .exe files. Some would probably say that using OneCare will give you some extra protection since the files will be scanned by av software from two different vendors when transferred. I never got any virus, worms or trojans using windows live messenger and trust that i'm able to reject dangerous files if i ever should receive any. If not i trust nod32 to give me the protection i need and don't need or want some other av software for that purpose.

    Hi edomonet,

In addition to the previous two posts, you could also configure messenger if you wanted with something like
    Code:
    [LEFT]"C:\Program Files\Eset\nod32.exe" /scanfile+ /adware /ah /all /arch+ /clean /cleanmode /delete /heur+ /heurdeep /log+ /mailbox+ /pack+ /quarantine /scanmbr- /scanboot- /scanmem- /scroll+ /sfx+ /unsafe /unwanted /quit+ /list+ /break- /selfcheck+ /pack+[/LEFT]

which is super-fast but there are also other options..

    Cheers :)
