When you bring up the Security Center, what does it say about a firewall running? The Security Center is a SP2 feature.

Do you have a 3rd party firewall running? If WF detects a firewall that it recognizes, it'll shut itself off.

Do you have the WF service set to start "automatically"?

Yus, it detects a firewall running ( zonealarm ).

But where do i set the setting to automatically, or should i not worry about that.

Don't worry about Windows firewall if you have one running, they don't need to be running together, it might even mess up your computer.

Just use one firewall, thee_ozzy, that's enough -- so far!!:D

    Hello thee_ozzy,

That question is only relevant if you did not have a 3rd party firewall about which you were silent.

Obviously it does and indeed did shut itself off upon detecting ZA, which is what it's supposed to do.

FYI: WF is a XP Service. To access: Start > run > type services.msc > ok.

Scroll down to Windows Firewall. DO NOT shut the Service down, if something happens to ZA, WF will start itself.

You can test that for yourself: shut ZA off - rightclick ZA tray icon > shutdown, and see what WF does.

    Regards - Charles
