Wonder how many Win installations were borked by deleting legit files? And then the fact the situation existed for over a month before being corrected if that really is the case ………..

Someone called me yesterday about their dead internet connection, and it turned out that WD had detected a "trojan", and after they performed recommended actions, the internet connection came back. But there was no reason to believe their system was actually infected, other than that.

It's too bad WD zaps legitimate Windows files, because the main reason we use WD is our belief that it plays well with Windows. Apparently, that belief is itself a FP.

Best-case scenario, this becomes a wake-up call for Microsoft that there are some improvements needed to be done with Windows Defender.
