when using windows built in file backup, does it synchronize the backup with whats on the external hard drive (deleting files no longer there and adding new ones), or just add on files to previous backups?

I've been using Windows Backup on Win7 to backup data to my NAS for a couple of weeks, and... I'll be d@mned if I'm certain of the answer to your question. The setup wizard doesn't seem to give an option whether to delete backup files no longer in the source, so we won't find the answer there.

I just perused my backup files on the NAS, and I'll take a guess that it's NOT deleting files that have also been deleted in the source.

I'll be moving to another solution soon. Looking at Synkron first. Seems to be very full featured and not intuitive for a dummy like me, so I'm reading the documentation.
