I know this might be a lame question but, any of you guys have tried the SP1 already?

    .
Based on what I've read SP1 for Windows 7 is only going to be a roll-up of security patches - no new functionality is purposed.

I think I can wait until the update. I bet it is predominantly security upgrades.

Microsoft also repeated what it has said several times already, that Windows 7 SP1 includes "no additional new features specific to Windows 7," but instead will be a collection of all of the security updates and nonsecurity hot fixes that have been issued via Windows Update. ~ Computerworld

In other words, if you've kept up to date, this is an annoyance/possible destabilizing thing you can avoid.

Won't we all get it anyway in routine updates?

I'm sure it will offered after the beta stage. As it is a beta (release candidate), you should be careful not to put it on your main machine to avoid any problems.
