    hi

    i run windows 7 , with all the update/hotfixes

    in xp , i used Removes Hotfix and ccleaner , to delete the backups after an update

    outside the system restore , is safe delete this folder?

    c:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\->

    i guess it should contain all the update downloaded and backups after the updates

    After successful update and restart, it is safe to delete 'C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Downloads'. I always do this since last year (on both Windows XP and 7) and never have any problem with Windows update.

    I think windows/winsxs is where your windows patches installs. It is said not safe to delete the contents in the folder though.

    Control Panel/Windows Update shows list of installed updates. Deleting contents of 'C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Downloads' means you have deleted downloaded updates (off course after installation and reboot).
