The windows 7 installer allows you to use custom options like format, new, etc. A lot of tutorials say press format instead of next in the partition window.
What is the difference? I thought pressing next would format automatically.

    Coolio10,

I've read that if you create a formatted partition with Acronis Disk Director and install Win7 into this partition, the install hangs after the first reboot. If you format that partition in the Win7 Advanced options, the Win7 install completes without problems. So the Win7 formatting process is special.

If you create your NTFS partition with BING, the partition does not need to be formatted by Win7.
