Windows 7 RC 32 bit installed with the default settings.

Question: Does Windows 7 deny access to system files?

Example: A system file located here: "C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\".

The reason I ask is that I ran into and have quarantined a "suspect" malware file. I could not upload it to Virustotal and I could not make an archive of the file. I was denied file access in both cases. I booted up with a Puppy Linux Live CD and both uploaded the file to Virustotal (21/41 Positives) and made a ZIP archive. After that I rebooted to Windows and quarantined the "suspect" file with F-Prot.

    Thanks in Advance.

yes it is a protected location as far as i know.
i just managed to copy a file from that folder to the desktop. you could try copying the files to desktop and then putting in an archive.

you may be able to run your archive program with admin rights to be able to create an archive.
