Windows 7 CD/DVD issue

    My colleague just got a new laptop running Win7 professional 32 bites.
    During installation of programs (Ccleaner, Nero, MBAM, etc. ) he remarked that the icon related to the CD/DVD drive disappeared from My Computer.
    Disc Management is either not showing this drive.
    He does not remember if he "accidentally" clicked on some "button" that make this drive representation not appearing in the Disc Management.

    How to restore this drive representation?
    Is Windows 7 Recovery Disc able to solve this issue?
