I've recently reconfigured my hard disk by wiping off all partitions and reformatting and installing Windows 95 then upgrading to windows 2000 professional.

The problem is when I shut down it does shut down windows but I have to manually press the off button to switch the computer off. When millenium edition was on there it switched the computer off aswell.

Where can I remedy this from? Is it from windows or from the box itself eg the cmos or motherboard jumper.

    Thanks

I would look in the control panel power options. Advanced power management.
If you have already done that check your motherboard settings

    Thanks Ron,
Now I know where I stand with this problem, should have it licked soon.
I did a search under APM and ACPI and found lots of info at microsoft http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=810903

on this problem, it seems I'm not the only one.
