Windows 11 leak reveals new UI, Start menu, and more (Discussion)

Unfortunately "Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\RunAsPPL" doesn't exist.

 

The LSA Folder/key and related subkeys do exist. What type of "value" is it, ie DWORD 32 bit , QWORD 64 bit, etc?

My concern is if the feature is not "surfaced" would it work, or worse would it bork the system by trying to enable it?

 

Yes, I'll just wait and see if MS makes it available down the road.

 

The comments probably have more useful info than the article where that is concerned. I don't see it either as I upgraded from Windows 10. I'm not going to wipe and start over to get there.

I never have these problems, you know why? Because I never update Windows, it's not worth it! But anyway, I found this, seems like MS has released free virtual machines that you can use until May 23, 2023. It's geared to app developers.

i just updated with KB5022913 and had NO problems. StartAllBack (licensed). so it seems no general issue to me. maybe such users switched to the old bar with a tweak, or use other tweak/tweakers. 7+ TaskbarTweaker is compatible as the author announced longer ago. i am pretty sure that issues are user made.

author has dropped it because of so many changes from MS. respect to be still encouraged, but i wont rely on this patch because of a broken windows.

 

Please stop spreading false information. I think Valinet's reply sums up the current situation. He hasn't dropped it to my knowledge.

 

Valinet's still developing it but Windows updates often break certain features. I don't use EP because of the many issues that crop up, as I keep up on that 11Forum thread in part to remind myself of the value in using Windows built-in features as often as possible.

StartAllBack appears to be more stable with Windows updates, though not perfect. Developers are always at the mercy of MS.

 

Could be, but that's not the point I was making which is - it has not been dropped. In my case, ExplorerPatcher is stable for what I am using it for (Quicklaunch Toolbar with OpenShell). Never had it crash on me yet using Win 11 22621.819 which is a test system. I don't jump on every release that pops up like some people do. Time will tell if I can later use it for production. I will probably go to the next version 22621_1344 after the March Patch Tuesday (not the preview).

In the latest update the windows OS cannot boot , it is stuck at eternal spinning, I can see wallpaper that that's it, can also access task manager but nothing else, as if explorer.exe is crashing in a loop

 

Sounds awesome. Do you have a backup or can you get into safe mode and roll it back?

 

I can't believe that people are actually still installing updates on Win 10 and 11, they are not worth the trouble.

Thanks, but it didn't help. Keep in mind, I'm not seeing a major slowdown, it's just a minor delay when Win Explorer needs to sort files. I didn't have this on Win 8.1 or Win XP, so not sure what's going on, but M$ messed up big time.

 

They increase security, which is a very good reason to install them. Sometimes they can cause problems. But in my experience, that is something that is very rare. It's rare enough for me to let Windows automatically download them when they are released, rather than waiting and reading user feedback to see if an update is causing problems. I know there are some users here who often have issues with updates, but thankfully I'm not one of them.
