Windows XP is dead?? I have Windows 10 set up to look like Windows XP. Hard to tell the difference! http://news.softpedia.com/news/wind...good-operating-systems-never-die-515543.shtml Believe it or not: https://i.redditmedia.com/UL9IrHp1fU1kLbYcHH0jOBx3wDdIolqme671ztDe-lA.png?w=960&s=5b6fe5ad3ce2db6f9e129f59232745f8 Cuz Windows could use a dose of good old-fashioned love!
I could never use XP with the default theme. I ran the classic theme for the first year and then a cracked uxtheme.dll with some custom themes.
Downloading • Windows 10 Insider Preview 16193.1001 (rs_prerelease) right now. MS seems to be kicking out a new one ever three or four days now.
same here - luna was pain. but cosmetics dont count, under the hood is important and any windows after xp has lots of improvment. xp is not able to run on current hardware. under win8/10 i use startisback and TLB (true launchbar) and IconGroups on my desktop. i dont like apps or the new start menu since win8. nevertheless its worth to use a proper set up desktop and not a bunch of links in every corner
+1. xp default theme is just as yucky as windows 8's metro app theme. this is what xp should look like:
OHO! Security and other technical stuff is almost subconscious to many, but the desktop aesthetic takes brain power, it's in ya face! Me says: Highly important!
I know what you mean but to any software developer reading this,,, they absolutely do count. There are products I won't use because of the UI.
I hated the default WinXP theme. Back then when I was using XP, I preferred using Zune theme or other custom themes that required uxtheme patching. http://www.askvg.com/download-official-windows-xp-themes-no-uxtheme-patching-required/ When I moved on to Vista and Win7, I liked Aero and didn't bother much with custom themes. Anyway, for those of you who do not mind uxtheme patching, you can also have a look at these: http://www.askvg.com/download-windows-xp-vista-7-8-and-longhorn-themes-for-windows-10/
Thanks goodness that little insignificant and largely forgotten 3-D window app named madotate is even more relevant and 100% completely compatible with Microsoft's newest Windows 10. It adds the Vista Flip 3D to windows and goes transparent to user's config. just enough to be out of the way but quickly recalled at the simple press of the mouse pointer. The rest of the eye candy I can live without such as Themes and such. I do however change ICONS for system & folders with Types.
XP theme with all its performance benefits would be welcomed. But I prefer wallpaper engine, which can kill even a high-end PC.
In Windows 10, you can still display thumbnail page views by pressing the WINDOWS KEY + TAB. Pretty cool!
