I am running Windows 7 64 bit and have three updates that won't install. The system will download the updates. Then it says creating restore point. That is far as it goes. The updates are KB2737019, KB2729449 and KB2687623. I tried downloading one from the web and when trying to install I got a pop up saying that it didn't apply or was being blocked.

Did you try what worked for a couple of people in that thread?

I did try the repair and it didn't work. The error code I get is 80070643 when the updates fail.

I occasionally get the same problem with the same error code: 0x80070643
The cure that always works for me is the following:

    Start > Programs > Accessories
Right click 'Command Prompt' > run as Admin
In the CMD window type the following

    Fsutil resource setautoreset true C:\

    Press Enter

Hope that works for you as well

What is the repair that didn´t work? Did you try the procedure described in http://www.sevenforums.com/windows-updates-activation/97775-update-error-80070643-a.html?

I come across these problems frequently (although not on every monthly update, last time was on September), and this procedure has always worked for me (Windows 7 x64).

I downloaded and ran (Net.Framework Cleanup Tool) to remove Net Framework 4. Then I downloaded and installed Net Frame Work 4 and the two Net Framework updates worked. So I still have to deal with KB2687623

I have a question. The update that I am having problems with is for Office 2010 32 bit. Now my Office install disk doesn't indicate 32 or 64 bit. My system is Windows 7 64 bit. Could that be why it won't install? I noticed that on the internet there is a download for KB2687623 64 bit.

I'm pretty sure that the Office 2010 install defaults to 32 bit (even on x64 windows) unless you specifically run the 64 bit setup/install file off the disk. So the 32 bit update should be appropriate.

I tried what Dark Star posted but it didn't work. I also tried some other things and KB2687623 still won't install.
