    To whom it may concern.

I did a dumb thing, I downloaded the SCRIPT FIX for
Windows Media Player. Being DUMB is not uniqeu for me.
I did made the assumption that the program was safe.
It caused a lot of trouble for me, no I did not crash!
However it corrupted Windows Media Player 9 to go crazy.
I have no Ideal how to fix it, so I downloaded an other one
from M.S. I could not remove the old one so my thinking
was, that the new program would overwrite the old one.
Wrong again, now I have TWO w.m.p.#9 in my system.
And when I tryed to remove the latest dowload I got alarm
bell's and warning sign's galoor. Removing the latest download would mean the loss of my VIRUSSCAN, TDS,FIREWALL,etc,..... about 12 programs in all.
Talking about a ROYAL PAIN IN THE YOU KNOW WERE!
Other than running a recovery, is there an solution available?
    IS THERE A SAFE SOLUTION??

Umm... what exactly is that Script fix for WMP and where did you download it from? o_O

You know what they say... if it ain't broke, don't fix it! (Of course there's a variation that says, if it ain't broke, keep fixin' it until it is. :D)

It looks a bit strange that uninstalling WMP will cause malfunction to all those other programmes. I am aware that WMP 9 is not just a programme update but a system upgrade (I'm using it myself!), and you can never get completely rid of it even if you uninstall it, but I can't see what this may have to do with your antivirus, firewall etc. Looks like a very badly messed-up installation that gives out all these (perhaps totally false) alarms.

If you have an operating system that allows system restore, that might be the best solution in this case... But I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will have more substantial advice to offer.

    Good luck!
    BS

    Hi bravehart6,

    Have HijackThis Fix:
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Real-Tens] "C:\Program Files\Real-Tens\Real-Tens.exe" /H
by running the scan, put a checkmark in front of that entry and click Fix checked.

    Then reboot and delete:
    C:\Program Files\Real-Tens <= the entire folder

There are some more things we can try, but getting rid of this spyware is a good place to start.

    Regards,

    Pieter

    Hi bravehart6,

Unfortunately you are running XP and I could not find any safe way to remove WMP 9 other then use SystemRestore and revert back to a point before installing it. :(

    Regards,

    Pieter

    TO: Mr. Pieter Arntz.

Dear Sir thank you for your help. However, I'm not able to
run "RESTORE" just for this minor issue.
I was very carefull that the DATA I did posted did not contain
any sensetive DATA. The fact that I posted any DATA from my system got me in HOT WATER! I would like you to help me removing my posting of the Hijackthis scan result.
Although the system is mine, a certain section is not!
Please help me with the removal of this posting?

Your program W.M.P. Script Fixer is being analyzed, why it triggert my (sensitive) security program, we have to know!
I hope to able to visit and post some questions in the future.
but I have to be very carefull. I'm being watched.
