Looking for some help with this, My PC really started acting up today and Avast found this today. My PC is running really slow right now, cannot access many of the anti-virus websites and noticed a bunch of .exe in the Task Manager that seem very odd and keep showing up after I end the processes.

I just ran Ad-aware and and have attached a copy of my HijackThis Log.

    Thanks alot in advance! :D

you have peper trojan please download and run the removal tool from thespykiller website in my signature

you must be connected to the net while running it and if your firewall asks, then allow it to connect

    then reboot &

Download and unzip or install these programs/applications if you haven't already got them. If you have them, then make sure they are updated and configured as described

    Spybot - Search & Destroy from http://security.kolla.de
    AdAware 6 from http://www.lavasoft.de/support/download

    Run Sybot S&D

After installing, first press Online, press search for updates, then tick the updates it finds, then press download updates. Beside the download button is a little down pointed arrow, select one of the servers listed. If it doesn't work or you get an error message then try a different server

Next, close all Internet Explorer and OE windows, press 'Check for Problems', and have SpyBot remove all it finds that is marked in RED.

    then reboot &

    Run ADAWARE

Before you scan with AdAware, check for updates of the reference file by using the "webupdate".
the current ref file should read at least 01R300 28.04.2004 or a higher number/later date

    Then ........

Make sure the following settings are made and on -------"ON=GREEN"
From main window :Click "Start" then " Activate in-depth scan"

    then......

click "Use custom scanning options>Customize" and have these options on: "Scan within archives" ,"Scan active processes","Scan registry", "Deep scan registry" ,"Scan my IE Favorites for banned URL" and "Scan my host-files"

    then.........

go to settings(the gear on top of AdAware)>Tweak>Scanning engine and tick "Unload recognized processes during scanning" ...........then........"Cleaning engine" and "Let windows remove files in use at next reboot"

then...... click "proceed" to save your settings.

Now to scan it´s just to click the "Scan" button.

When scan is finished, mark everything for removal and get rid of it. (Right-click the window and choose"select all" from the drop down menu) then press next and then say yes to the prompt, do you want to remove all these entries.

    reboot again

then post a new hijackthis log to check what is left

First can you copy & zip these files and send to submit@thespykiller.co.uk with a short note referring to this thread

I've seen these crop up a few times in the last couple of days and are obviously new baddies that we need copies of

    C:\documents and settings\home\local settings\temp\uIVEQ.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\IEHost.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\dp-him.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\swpgr1.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\Microsoft.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\scvhost.exe <<<< be very careful here and watch the spelling SCVhost not SVChost which is a legitimate needed windows file
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\wapiit.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\SearchBar.htm

Run hijackthis, tick these entries listed below and ONLY these entries, double check to make sure, then make sure all browser & email windows are closed and press fix checked

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = file://C:\WINDOWS\System32\SearchBar.htm

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [UpdReg] C:\WINDOWS\Updreg.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [scvhost.exe] scvhost.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Update] Microsoft.exe

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [WTSS] C:\WINDOWS\System32\wapiit.exe
    O4 - Startup: PowerReg Scheduler.exe

Reboot into safe mode by following instructions here: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2001052409420406
then as some of the files or folders you need to delete may be hidden do this:
Open Windows Explorer & Go to Tools > Folder Options. Click on the View tab and make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked. Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and untick "hide extensions for known file types" . Now click "Apply to all folders"
    Click "Apply" then "OK"

    Delete these files

    C:\documents and settings\home\local settings\temp\uIVEQ.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\IEHost.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\dp-him.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\swpgr1.exe

    C:\WINDOWS\System32\wapiit.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\SearchBar.htm
    then
Reboot normally & post a new log

I've had a quick look at the files

    IEhost is the searchbar pest

swpgr1 is a new apropos loader
    uiveq is a statblaster/winfetch parasite

wapiit is a new purity scan pest

they are all on their way to the developers to include in updates and I am waiting to hear what the others are

    edit:
    Microsoft.exe Infected: Backdoor.Agobot.gen
    scvhost.exe Infected: Backdoor.Agobot.gen
    according to Kapersky online

Oh, one other thing, there is a program located in C:\WINDOWS\avserve.exe that was created yesterday as well. It is loading during startup and appears to be one of the culprits. When I go into the Task Manager, avserve looks like its putting a serious strain on my CPU. It is extremely slow. If I leave it running for an extended period of time my system will completely freeze up. However if I end avserve.exe right after startup the computer seems to be running ok. Any thought on this?

    Thanks again!

Run hijackthis, tick these entries listed below and ONLY these entries, double check to make sure, then make sure all browser & email windows are closed and press fix checked

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [avserve.exe] C:\WINDOWS\avserve.exe

Reboot into safe mode by following instructions here: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2001052409420406
then as some of the files or folders you need to delete may be hidden do this:
Open Windows Explorer & Go to Tools > Folder Options. Click on the View tab and make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked. Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and untick "hide extensions for known file types" . Now click "Apply to all folders"
    Click "Apply" then "OK"

    delete
    C:\Program Files\SysAI folder

    also C:\WINDOWS\avserve.exe

it's another brand new virus just out
    http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_125007.htm

and the other numbered files as described in the link

then it is vital that you go here, click Scan for updates in the main frame, and download and install all CRITICAL updates recommended.

as these worms get on through an exploit taht a recent update fixes

Well, I spoke too soon.... I found what looks to be another one. C:\WINDOWS\System32\win32.exe. This one was added earlier before I did the windows update. o_O Please let me know what you think. Thanks again.

    that's another one

post a new hjt log and let's ee if it's got a start up to kill first

It doesn't look like your antivirus is doing a very good job does it
and it looks like you urgently need a firewall that helps prevenyt most of these getting on or phoning home for extras as well

    lists here http://www.wilders.org/firewalls.htm
