will mx-17 auto upgrade

i installed mx-17 32bit on a old acer laptop in july 2018. i'm getting updates on a regular basis and the machine is running great. looking in my system info kernel 4.13.0 mx-17 horizon. its been over a year now, shouldn't it have updated to 17.1 ? will it update to mx-18 or do i have to run a command in terminal to get it to update to newer version? thanks for your help

thanks for your reply. yes, i've read that list. i could not find mx updater anywhere and when i run dist-upgrade i get command not found. i love mx-17 and it's working great. was just wondering about the version upgrades.thanks again

 

I’m not running MX-linux but I’d try:

sudo apt update
Then
sudo apt upgrade
Then
sudo apt dist-upgrade
Or
sudo apt full-upgrade

 

i ran all of those and still no version upgrades. i found mx updater in accessories and didn't know it is the same as the update box in system tray. when i clicked on it(when no updates were offered) synaptic was offered to login. do you think firejail could be blocking upgrade? thanks

 

I don’t think so.
Maybe they are rolling out the upgrade gradually?
